Environmental Design Reflection

So guys, we tried our hardest to make a good presentation on Tuesday. Alan said it sucked. I'm glad he was honest about it, I agree. It did. But why? We tried getting a hold of everyone but it was memorial day weekend so everyone was out of town and couldn't help the 4-5 of us organize. So, um yea. I dont know. Hard luck.

hey guys!

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN- snow
PICK ONE AND PUT YOUR NAME NEXT TO IT
1. Emotions
Snow is water and water typically represents the emotions and/or the unconscious and/or the intuition. Since snow is frozen one might conclude that snow therefore represents an emotional coldness or a kind of emotional paralysis. Or one might believe that snow might mean that the intuition is somehow blocked--information may be received but the ability to trust it or act upon it is missing. Something else to consider when you are interpreting your snow dream is the condition of the snow. Is it white? Is it a nice snow or is it a driving blizzard or a serious snowstorm? Is the snow falling at an odd time of year? Snow that is brown or off color may indicate feelings of innocence lost. Snowstorms or blizzards may indicate feeling emotionally overwhelmed or unable to see one's way through a situation such as the way one might feel if caught in a 'blinding snowstorm'.
2. Color Symbolism: Angel will talk about this
There is another characteristic to snow--its color. Snow is white. White is often a symbol of purity. In alchemy, white was the symbolic color of purification: the color of having stripped oneself bare of all that was no longer needed to move on to a higher level of existence. In dreams white may symbolize new beginnings. It may also be symbolically related to baptism which is another symbol of the beginning of new life. Looked at from this vantage point, snow might symbolize a new beginning, a new relationship not only to one's emotions and intuition but to one's Self. Remember though, white is a beginning color--this is the start of something new, not the completion of the process.
3. Return to Innocence - Angela
4. Snow White Wordplay
A dream of white snow may also be a play on words. Think of the fairy tale "Snow White" which is a wonderful tale of individualization. In the process of individualization, Carl Jung spoke of snow as being symbolic of the white stage of the anima--a time in the individuation process when the 'female' aspect of the soul is being purified or seen for who she truly is rather than simply remaining a unconscious projection of images of women in the waking world. If "Snow White" resonated with you as a child, you might consider rereading it and seeing if any ideas pop up in relation to your dream. Individuation brings us to another characteristic of snow. It is said that no two snowflakes are alike so it is possible that a snow dream may be pointing to a profound level not only of purification but of individuation--a reaching of an authentic Self unhindered by the ideas, thoughts, and projections of others.
5. Wish Fulfillment
Snow dreams happen throughout the year and if you relate positively to snow and it is falling at an odd time of year, this may indicate an unexpected, happy event in your life. Snow can be a symbol of hope or a symbol of a wish fulfilled as those who are in fact "Dreaming of a White Christmas" will attest!
6. Individuality/Perfection- Angel will talk about this also if noone wants to
Its little surprise that snowflakes are symbolic of the winter season and the cold. Because no two of these lovely ice crystals are the same, they also represent individuality, and their perfect geometric forms represent perfection. It seems that when it begins to snow, an atmosphere of silence also falls on the earth. People are generally in their houses, the animals are quiet, and even nature seems to sleep, noiseless and tranquil, as it is covered with a white blanket of snow. Therefore you could even suggest a snowflake symbolizes serenity, peace and tranquility. The clear glassy and clean formation of such little phenomina also symbolize purity.
7. Relationship between the tree and the snowflakes chiara will talk about this
- why we picked that type of tree
- confliction of seasons
8. Explanation of the pictures (black clothes vs. white clothes) chiara will also talk about this if nobody else wants to
ALSO ADD WHATEVER ELSE YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT.

Stage Design Presentation
Presentation Introduction:
As a team we hoped to demonstrate the juxtaposition between that which is lively and full within life, as opposed to that which is decaying and ugly. With an underlying air of “pushing the envelope of normalcy” we hope our stage design evokes within our audience a sense of impending truth- that lightness (the good) and darkness (the bad) are inevitable in life. The symmetrical differentiation between the bright color pallet displayed on stage right as opposed to the dark color pallet displayed on stage left, illuminates an immediate and obvious mood of contrast that sets the tone for the “spoken word” piece we hope will bring life to our stage. The theme of this poetic production which inspired our stage design, is that of viewing life as a pendulum with the “door” or mind as the key player in this motion-filled game. Thus, we placed the door directly in the center of the stage- as a clear line between these two different states of existence. The thriving tree exemplified on stage right is destroyed and left to rot on stage left. This tree, in its oppositional stages of life, is meant to embody humanity itself and/or man's journey from life to death.
